The government says a highly pathogenic avian influenza case was confirmed in Scotland last week and warns that risk may rise as migratory waterfowl return.

- The UK Government urges poultry farmers and pet bird keepers to review and improve biosecurity.
- It says avian influenza continues to circulate in wild birds and has spread to kept birds across Europe.

Why it matters: The government says biosecurity can help protect kept birds and reduce the risk of infection entering those populations.
